Wind-waves modulate exchanges across the air-sea interface via a number of processes, summarised by Cavaleri et al. (Climate Dynamics, 2012).
To understand the larger role of wind-waves in the coupled climate system, several groups are actively coupling wave models into General Circulation Models and parameterising wave dependent exchanges.
